Cops aren't at my episcopal church on Palm Sunday when we process from one location to another, crossing a busy street without a traffic light. They aren't at the Catholic church in my neighborhood on Easter. They aren't at the Mormon church in Alexandria on their holy days. Not saying it's because of radicalization, but it's certainly not just to escort people across a street that has a streetlight to stop traffic.
Many large churches in this area use police to assist with traffic before and after services. Please get out more.
My synagogue often has Ffx County police out to help with traffic for Hebrew school mornings, Sabbath services and High Holy Days.
I was waiting for a Jewish commentator, the police aren't there just to help with traffic. The majority of hate crimes in this country are still antisemitic, the police are there also to protect the congregation in case some crazy shows up. Maybe right wing christians need to stop hurling bombs and garbage and spray painting synagogues then the police won't have to be there. Th police are at mosques in order to prevent this happening to Mosques as well, you know so the racism and hate won't become truly anti- "semitic". Islam is an evangelical religion just like Christianity- both religions think the world would be a better place if everyone believed what they believed, if you don't agree with that how many of you push for Muslims to give up even innocuous beliefs like praying to practice as you do? 'Victory over the disbelievers' is prayer that everyone will "see the light' and become Muslim. Muslims aren't hiding this desire nor is it evil, I'd argue that having this desire and being unaware of it is at least just as wrong? When San Fransisco tells people that circumsizing their sons is physical and sexual abuse and mutilation of the human body they aren't saying anything new, in fact if you look at a lot of the criticisms of Muslims in general, not the terrorists but just the mainstream, they don't sound all that different than the abuse hurled at Jewish Europeans before reform when congregations took out the "Father of Mercy" prayer and that still didn't work. Muslims in the west look with alarm at the efforts that nonChristians took to appease Western society and it didn't work. And the reason those poor people took all that abuse was partly because they were a tiny, demoralized minority of scholars trying to survive. Muslims are not a tiny embattled minority of scholars, we don't really care that you think we shouldn't pray 5 times a day, or fast or eat dates or like white & green. We just don't care. we have more to lose from radical Islam, the Taliban and Isis have raped more muslims women, and killed more of us and want to control more if us than anyone else. Frankly, the disapproval of a 'gori maym' (shiksa) from the nova suburbs is so not at the top of the agenda. I dont know where you get this idea that women walk behind men, that is a victorian European idea, its not practiced in Islam and has been debunked a bazillion times.
