As I had software from SpeedyPC,which worked well for me,and had been downloaded by a Microsoft technician, after I had contacted Microsoft Tech Support, when I received the call from THIS "company," I unfortunately, became their victim. They claimed to be a Microsoft partner, and aware that PCSpeedy was, i allowed access, for a "30-minjte repair; 30 hours later, I found that they had removed my virus protection, and infected my computer, left my malware protection disabled, and said that I needed to pay $199.99 for their NEW software. I declined the payment demand, uninstalled their software, but later found that the computer was failing. HitmanPro was ineffective in removing it, and my computer died a slow, painful death. While my computer was dying, I began receiving calls from this "company," saying that their software was defective, their corporate attorneytold them that they would be going out-of-business and they would refund my $199.99, give me a "new computer," provided I sent $500.oo, and they would include an additional $1,500.00. I demanded that I speak to their attorney, and their manager; someone else picked up, but I heard derisive laughter in the background. For the past seven months, I have received numerous calls saying that I needed to go to my computer, login to the website they would provide, and complete a claim. Despite my having told them to cease these calls, and to MAIL me the paperwork, they insist that they MUSt only process the claim online. They have declined to provide a telephone number, but, today I received the following (which is likely bogus): PC Speedy 13 South South Sydney, Australia When I said that I will NOT open any link they might send me, which would infect my NEW computer, I was told, that if I would not do s,o, I would forfeit my "refund." Needless to say, I do not entertain any calls from a "technician claiming to have been monitoring my computer, and representing Dell technical support--both Dell and Microsoft stated very clearly that their technicians would NEVER initiate the contact--I asked for their telephone number, and received one different from that provided by Dell. "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on ME!"
