NNAT is kind of an insurance if Kid has an off day in a section of COGAT. Bottom line to make it to AAP, need to have good scores in 2 out of 3 - GBRS, COGAT , NNAT with GBRS being the highest weighted and NNAT relatively lower than other two.
Not necessarily true. DS 1 got a 134 on NNAT and a 129 on COGAT in 2014, was in pool, and denied admission to AAP. We didn't appeal, he is in immersion anyway and we wouldn't have accepted.
134 is not a high score, I am talking about high 140s and 150s.
I believe someone posted on one of the results boards that her child got a 155 on the NNAT but a very average CogAT and was not admitted. So it is in no way an insurance policy. Additionally, for years they look at a composite score for the CogAT "in pool" baseline, having an off day can bring the entire CogAT score down.
