I'm saying people living in Vienna. Those living in Fairfax are closer to Luther, but those in Vienna and Oakton, south side of 66, are closer to Thoreau.
All the students living in the Town of Vienna go to either Thoreau or Kilmer, and then to Madison HS. People in other parts of Vienna and Oakton just live in unincorporated parts of Fairfax County.
In either case, there is no right to attend the MS/HS in FCPS that is closest to your home, and it simply is not feasible given where the schools are located. People usually only imply otherwise if it means they end up in a school with "better" demographics. So, yes, there may be some people living in areas with Vienna zip codes that are closer to Thoreau than Jackson, but join the club. We were closer to two other high schools than the one we were assigned to when living in Vienna. We knew that when we paid for our home, which would have cost more had it been assigned to one of the two closer schools.
