[/quote] You don't have to train them to do what they are bred to do...herding breeds. Retrievers. Yes they need training on honing their instincts. OP posted about the pit and the jack russell. OMG. GSD and malinois etc might be trained for police and military work but labs are trained for different police and military work. It would be far less expensive to just get some rescue pits than have breeding programs for police/military/guide dogs/disabled vets. Guess what all you pit fans? I might become a puppy raiser for a service dog organization. Based on it's [and similar organizations'] experience I would not qualify if I owned certain breeds. One of which is a pit. So people that train dogs to the ultimate level know less than the pittie people?[/quote]
