Op here. To clarify, it's not a problem to find men to casually date and sleep with if you don't want to have kids. I am interested in getting married, though.....and I think a lot of times guys want to get married becasue they want to have kids?
Yes, probably "a lot of times" people are getting married in anticipation of wanting children. So, you are indeed going to exclude and be excluded from a big part of the potential spouse pool. However, it's definitely not like you not wanting kids makes you unmarryable, if that's what you're asking.
I can see how that narrows the pool considerably. Are you looking at guys at least 40? I think there are marriage minded men that don't want to have kids and don't already have kids. I can think of one couple where the guy is a workaholic (got married late 30's/early 40's) but family is very important to him so he wanted to be married and wanted his wife to be part of his family but didn't want kids. I do think it may be hard to find this situation. Maybe eharmony may do a better job of matching you up with someone like that. I can also think of step mom situations where the guy has children and doesn't want more (say he already has 2-4 kids). It isn't a matter of waiting until his kids move out the house to move in together because the kids are in early elementary school and for many reasons it would make sense for the girlfriend to be a fiancée before they start living together with his kids. I think this situation is easier to find in online dating once you look at older guys (late 30's and up)
