I don't care how smart you are or where you work, if you are a zero in emotional intelligence, you're not going to make it that far. Brains and energy gets you a lot of the way, but there just aren't that many roles for lone-wolf "technical expert" kinds of people. Success at higher levels means helping groups of people function. If you don't have the self-awareness to be effective in that role, you're going to max up...in government or in private industry.[/quote]
