It's actually 2/3 women, 1/3 men.  Here are the reasons for the imbalance:

-  after divorce men see their children a lot less than the ex
-  men generally earn more so they have more assets to lose if they file
-  divorce and custody laws generally favor women so men are concerned that if they file the judge will crap on them assuming they are the bad guy in the marriage
-  men look at divorce as a failure, women move on
-  men have much smaller support groups than women.  Women can count on friends, men wind up along living in a beat up apartment with a sink full of dirty dishes
-  in dating, men are expected to make the first move and face rejection.  Therefore, men are loathe to get into that game

Note:  this does not mean that men are happier in marriage, just that they are less inclined to initiate divorce[/quote]
