Westerners need to understand the just just medieval philosophy of ISIL: women as property; convert or die; submission to a dictatorial caliphate. This group is unlike any other "state" - these people are not "rational actors" who can be understood through any modern norms of international diplomacy. I see little alternative beyond what the administration is rightly doing: annihilate ISIL and try to prevent radicalization of anyone else (of any religion). [/quote]
