Ok, just to let everyone know that it doesn't HAVE to be a disaster, my parents let me host a couple of parties like this in High School back in the early/mid 90s. The reason was simply because we happened to live about an hour away from my friends and none of the other parents really wanted to drive an hour each way to drop off and pick up their kid in one evening. The first time around was in 10th grade and I think 2 guys came and about 6 or 7 girls. The biggest problem of the night was when I realized that I hadn't seen a few of my friends for about 20 minutes and after searching found them sitting outside in the middle of the street because they were so amazed that there were no cars around at all (we lived in a very small town an hour away from the city where I went to school). My mom was within earshot for most of the evening. There was no alcohol and no sex and it was still considered a great time just because we had fun and everyone thought it was cool that all of our parents actually allowed us to have a sleepover. The second party was New Year's Eve during senior year and that time there were probably about 5 or 6 guys and maybe 7 or 8 girls. Again there was no sex and no alcohol and aside from managing to cover the house in confetti that took a LONG time to clean up there were no issues.
