Curious as to why Spanish isn't mentioned once here. Lots of discussion regarding Arabic (290 million speakers) and Amharic (with only 22 million native speakers in the world!), but nothing regarding Spanish (410 million native speakers). Any reason why?
Lots of Spanish immersion and Spanish enrichment schools in the city.
Just because there are a lot already doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Japanese? Total waste of time. Portuguese? Where is the community that can help support this? Where are you going to find a ton of Portuguese speakers? Also what type of Portuguese? European or Latin American? Do you really think Arabic will be a useful language in 20 years when the oil is gone from the Middle East? I don't. I'd rather have a useful language. It's not my problem that other schools are teaching Spanish already.
