OP here: Well I already replied to her telling her how it was my boyfriends dog but that she was 1) not tied up outside/at all and 2) certainly wasn't barking all day outside. She left it with telling me that she was going to contact the homeowners association on Monday and would be in touch. I really hope she doesn't think I am going to pay a "fine" for something that just isn't true at all. I've lived here for 3 years now and she's such a pain to deal with so I'm sure it's going to turn into a huge issue but I'm hoping not. [/quote]

Look at it from your landlord's view.  She got a letter from the HOA with mention of the barking dog and potential fine (which she doesn't want to pay any more than you do).  Your landlord had no clue what the situation was so she texted you to try to sort this all out and figure out what happened.  She got your side of it and was careful to point out that just because she agrees that dogs should not be left outside barking does not mean that she is giving her permission to bring the dog inside the condo - which is how some renters might take it ("I brought the dog inside because YOU told me not to leave it outside barking!").  The landlord will likely talk to the HOA, explain to them what occurred with the dog and let them know that you deny leaving the dog outside barking unattended for long stretches.  Hopefully that will be that.
