Plenty of threads discussing both schools can be found, along with helpful info and misinfo. Please take the time to tour both schools and talk with teachers and parents. BTW, us [b]Brent folks will be getting our own Trader Noes and nearby Whole Foods in 2017 and we're within walking distance of the National Mall, Smithsonian Museums, Nationals Park, Yards Park and the Canal Park Skating Rink. Brent is two blocks from the Capitol South Metro (OR, BL, Sv) and close to some great family-friendly restaurants.
Wow. I had no idea that TJ and WF were being built exclusively for the Brent crowd!
Yes, it's true. You might be able to shop at either OOB for a little while, but with the number of sibs in the Brent district, I wouldn't count on it for long.
The Brent PTA has actually started a petition to stop WF and TJ from taking WIC. They want to eliminate FARMS kids at the start.
The system used wotp works well for this Gloverpark WF: For the JKLM wannabe's Tenleytown WF: For those pesky OOB that keep showing up Friendship Heights WF: For the inbound, since you always need some extra shopping bling to keep up with the other moms ....
do Tyler and Watkins get proximity preference to TJ? They are both closer to the Hine site than Brent
Potomac Gardens kids get first dibs on customers walking eastbound on Pennsylsvania Avenue.
Potomac Gardens is the biggest boogeyman on the Hill -- I hear Hill-O-Ween is going to be in the PG courtyard this year so white folk can feel more authentically scared.
Good to hear crime is just another urban legend. I'm looking forward to the Snopes explanation of the data patterns on the MPD Crime Map.
What makes you assume it's committed most (or at all) by the residents of stable Hill public housing? Does every criminal shit where they eat?
In my experience most people who engage in crimes of opportunity aren't really very smart. They are also more comfortable on their home turf when potential victims are plentiful. Grouped of kids aren't coming from PG County or Shaw to punch people and snatch their bags and cellphones. Enough with this silliness in a thread about two schools in NE.
This is the kind of silly racist assumption by a blowhard that quickly turns to 'but it's off topic' -- taking an obvious joke about schools and their airs of exclusivity and turning it into something uglier. Much of the Hill crime comes through the Benning Road corridor from the east as it's an area of opportunity and easy access to get away. It's one reason you see more crime on the northeastern half of the Hill. Talk to 1st District officers if you doubt me. Potomac Gardens and Kentucky Courts are also home to a significant number of seniors citizens.
You know that senior citizens...all that time on their hands and their "fixed income." Keep an eye on them.
