Of course since there is attrition there have been fewer elements in 8th or 9th than in 5th and 6th. He's found his Basis friends through sticking with mostly the same extracurriculars from year to year, eating lunch with whomever he likes rather than just with kids from his current element. He didn't have much in common with most of his class in 6th, so switching to a new group in 7th was helpful. By 8th grade everyone seemed to know everyone else - which I think is a good thing overall. [/quote]
