Why is everyone so quick to jump on Landon? I have a son at STA, and while we love the school, it has its fair share of problems. There was a lower school student who brought a knife to school and threatened another student, but no one is talking about that. I don't think the school handled that situation well at all. There was very little communication about it to families at the school, and my son happened to witness the event. So I think that jumping on Landon for "boorish" behavior, while at the same time ignoring an incident where a student brought a weapon to school and threatened another student, is a complete double standard.
I don't think the issue with Landon is incident based (like the one you point out at STA), but more culture based. It is about how students treat each other and the attitudes that they develop while they are there (parents alike). I don't know much about Landon or STA other than what I have read here, and both schools were not on our list of potential schools for my DS. But it sounds like there are too many former and current parents that are unhappy with the culture at Landon. Considering culture is one of the more important aspects of a school in our eyes, I certainly would not want to send my son there.
