They would have to weigh Spanish dominance when you consider the new boundaries for Powell (Between Georgia Ave. and 14th Street. Spring St at the south up to Allison).  Very few family-sized residences for less than $800K.  Even the fixer-uppers are asking $700K.

While it's true that the real estate websites haven't been updated (that I've seen anyway), the changes are pretty undramatic for Powell.  I see a couple of blocks between Quincy and Spring that got moved to Raymond, but nothing moving to Barnard or West.  In fact, Powell expanded a little too in the area between Arkansas, Georgia, and Allison, although I have no idea who had that before.

If you're searching on Redfin, the current boundary goes east of Georgia all the way over to the Soldiers Home and in some places stretches up to Decatur.  We're at Powell with in-boundary preference, but now our house is zoned for Bruce Monroe and some of our neighbors just a block north and east are zoned for Barnard.

The point about Spanish dominance was that, at the rate demographics are changing, there won't be many Spanish dominant families left within the boundary.[/quote]
