One thing that odd to me about the show is that the character grew up on the UES, which has always been snooty and old money...you'd think an odd duck that grew up there would have more self awareness about the fact that she's different, and be less self conscious about it.  Now, on the other hand, if someone like me had happened to marry into an old money UES family, I would be a total mess and constantly torn between trying to fit it and be liked, and rebelling and trying to still be a regular person.
And for those who said its a stereotype, pretty much all comedies are either stereotypes or inverted stereotypes--they rely on exxageration or mockery of expectations for humor.  That's true even of the greats, like Seinfeld and Arrested Development.  So I don't count that against a sit-com, unless it's offensively so.  
I did think the gay bagel thing was a super weird joke.  Gays are sweeter than regular folks?  More fatty?  (that seems unlikely...).  Maybe more fun?  They like other donuts more than they like bagels, whereas bagels like to snuggle up with bialys?  I was totally perplexed by that joke.  [/quote]
