It's a slippery slope. To me saying it's OK because it's somehow "loving" is justifying poor behavior on the part of adults (it's not abuse because I didn't hit him [i]that[/i] hard - it was just a gentle spanking, with an open hand, etc.). So I agree with OP - if you're Ok with spanking, then acknowledge it for what it is (hitting!), and own it. Don't fall back on bizarre justifications like it's "calm and loving." [/quote]
