You know, whether wooden letters, paper mache, or decal - I think it's all about the overall look of the room. Less is more, in my opinion. If that's your one focal point, I think it's fine. If you also have a big mural on one wall, or lots of photos, or lots of little stuffed animals - it's going to look tacky.

On the decals, be sure to get the matte vinyl, not glossy. Definitely looks classier. And if your walls have any texture to them, forget it - the decals show the texture and look awful. Not sure what is common around DC - Midwest we always had smooth walls but now that we live in TX, it is ALL textured walls, even in very high end homes. It is just a regional difference. Took me a long time to adjust, they are harder to paint and repair, although they do hide imperfections better. [/quote]
