The phone/e-mail/text version of a person is different from who he is in real life. Not necessarily worse, just different. By the time I finished up online dating, I would do one e-mail exchange, one phone call, and then a short date - coffee, not dinner. As you realize now, you put a lot of emotional energy into something that never panned out. Remember that dating is a numbers game. Meet as many people as possible.
