Questions I have. How many years have gone by since the last episode of abuse? Has SIL been in therapy?
17 years since last incident Yes. Lots of therapy.
Regression therapy?
Why would you assume that?
PP is looking for a way to deny that this happens. Recovered memory therapy is notoriously unreliable.
No just normal see a therapist and talk therapy. Not a special kind.
I am the one that asks the question and as the PP mentioned regression therapy is unreliable and in reality is also extremely harmful to the patient and to those around them. And no I wasn't looking for a way to deny. Just asking a question that is an important consideration. Unlike some I won't just to a conclusion. As I have already stated in another post...I abhor abuse in all forms. When confronted by this kind of situation you, as a friend or family member, need to be supportive but also patient. I suggest a lot of research can be useful. I wish you, your SIL and all your family the best.
