I've hear that term quite often and used it myself sometimes when I'm mad.  I try not to nowadays because don't want my kids to pick up those words or traits.  But I think it's still a commonly used term, at least for my generation.

It's really not funny, though, is it?  It's pretty disrespectful, reducing people to their reproductive capacity and nothing else.  Not to mention, I'm pretty sure gays and lesbians have parents too.  Would they call their own parents "breeders" to their face?  I'd call the use of this term immature and emotionally stunted, but not funny.[/quote]
I think it's funny because their lack of procreative potential is one of the many stupid arguments that have been used as a reason to deny gay people the right to marry.  So it's sort of funny to throw it around as a slur.[/quote]
