Doing the Pre-K lottery this year, and also applying to WIS in case we draw the short straw. If we get into Oyster and WIS, I'm considering putting the additional $3K a month that WIS would cost towards a higher mortgage, and moving somewhat close to Oyster (not necessarily in-boundary) to be able to manage the commute. Where should we look at for something with 3 bedrooms for less than $1.5M? Woodley Park is out of the question, there doesn't seem to be anything for less than 4 or 5 million there.
Not sure how you are looking, but there are plenty of nice townhouses under $1.5m in Woodley Park. Perhaps now the market is slow...just setup an alert via Redfin, or contact a local agent.
Yes, you can find a rowhouse in WP for about $1.1M and up. The lower the price (closer to $1.1M), the more work/renovating you'll have to do on it though. However, be forewarned that there isn't much inventory (even when the market is slow), and IB rowhouses move VERY fast (a week or less). It took us about 2 years to find a suitable house. If you want a detached house that's IB for Oyster, then yes, you will spend $2M and up. Good luck!
