So am I correct? There is no Private school in Metro DC that can handle well 2e gifted child who is 2- 3 grades above in math (officially documented and supported with several independent tests)., but who has low processing speed when it has to do with humanitives and writing... I am just trying to find options for my child, and there seems to be none (except homeschooling which is not good since child in not socially mature.)
This is my DC to a tee. PP, does your child have an IEP? I'm afraid we waited to long to start the process, but the writing has picked up significantly in 4th grade and DC is really struggling. We know DC has a very slow processing speed from previous testing. We got push back when we tried to set up a meeting with the special ed teacher because DC's test scores are high in both math and reading. Just trying to decide whether it's worth pursuing just for writing assignments and the best way to proceed. We are also considering private for middle school for this reason. Would welcome any advice.
