Ward 4. We are looking for a college prep model. We would consider switching from a WOTP middle school IF Brookland Middle has strong foreign language offerings, strong math, science, English and history teachers, small class sizes, with a well supported robotics club and other extracurriculars (mathletes, debate, drama, music, art shows?) We'd like our kids to be ahead of the curve as far as preparing to enroll in HS AP classes, top level math etc. when they get to HS, not struggling to catch up to peers around the country who will be competing with them for spots at top colleges.
Wow, fellow parent here. That's a lot of extras to expect of a MS in its first year. I'd imagine it would need time to work up to having a robotics and debate club. I'll be surprised if it hits its targeted enrollment numbers in the fall.
I think that really depends on staff. If staff are interested and ready to support these programs, debate, robotics and much more could happen in the first year with ease.
Love the radio silence on the principals' statements esp. from the planning team. Anyone have anything at all to share about potential principal candidates?
