I asked Muslima for an explanation for the killing in the kosher grocery. "She" responded by calling me "Buddy" and not answering the question. I find 'buddy" an odd choice of words from a Muslim woman.
I think the problem with that question is that you think, for some reason, she should know why someone commits a terrorist act. Or perhaps you want an explanation based on the Quran but, that does not exist given that murder is not condoned. The problem with Islam is the same with any religion. Men twist religions to subjugate and instill fear in people. As with the word "witch" in the New Testament used as a method of condoning the murders of women in Salem. To really understand ancient writing you should use as example the people that lived at the time of its origin when, what you see translated or hear from different groups, contradicts each other. For example, there is no doubt that at the time of Mohamed a woman's role in Persian and Arab society was much different than today. It has devolved in the modern era. Woman like Al-Malika al-?urra Arwa al-Sulayhi, Arwa al-Sulayhi, Khawla b. al-Azwar, R?bi‘a al-‘Adaw?yya, Razia Sultan and Shajar al-Durr...(who started life as a slave, only to become Queen/Ruler of Egypt). There are many more Muslim women who engaged in commerce, fought and commanded armies and rule kingdoms, all while living as Muslims in the Middle East. I find attacking their spiritual beliefs counter productive to resolving the problem of terrorist groups. We do not, for example, assault Judaism because of the murders and bombings the Jewish Defense League has committed here and, in the name of Christianity many atrocities have/are committed in the America. I also want to remind you that according to our own government, the Muslim Community continues to be our best defense against Terrorist claiming to be Islamic.
