I'm the PP whose child did the camp. I'd be disappointed too if the letter advised me to enroll my child in the $60K/year school instead of the weekend program! So sorry that's been your experience. Just adding the perspective that they do look for a fairly standard Asperger's profile for the camp so that may be the reason. I remember there were a few camp families who were dissatisfied with the camp and their kids did seem to be outliers (I don't mean that in a bad sense, please don't take it that way) from the rest of the population. One was a particularly active child who wasn't as adept as the others at taking direction, and the other was a bit too mature/advanced in social skills to get much out of it. Keep in mind the high cost makes parents expect a lot out of it, so if they're dissatisfied they make it known! I hope you find the right solution and fit for your child. I've been impressed by JCC social skills groups, FWIW.
Yes, the 50K-80K school will be a perfect fit apparently! My DS has been having a lot of behavioral challenges when he started school in the fall so I am not surprised that he exhibited them during the second observation and Ivymount felt he does not fit into the program but I wish they had not accepted us and then rescinded the offer. My son is going to be so disappointed and this is something that could easily have been prevented. My kid is "classic" Asperger's according to our former developmental pediatrician and CNMC.
