I agree. You are all a bunch of coddling hypochondriac pessimists.
If wearing shoes inside a public building is your definition of a coddling hypochondriac parent, then I guess I am one.
The WHOLE point is to show how hard it is for others in various countries who do not own shoes.
Seriously, do you think the kids are really going to learn anything? It's going to be a sock-smell-athon and a huge waste of academic time.
You all want MCPS to do a little more, think outside the box, get your kids talking/acting.
On a larger scale, I don't expect nor do I want my public school system to instill THEIR values in my children, that is MY job. A shoe drive is fine, reading and discussing a specific child in another country would at least develop an emotional attachment.
This is a great way to show them. But yes, I am sure 99% of them will get gashes, infections, eboli, the flu, chicken pox, whooping cough, etc.... because they don't wear shoes for a day
. My neighbor, who is a physician, has worked extensively in third world countries thinks it's an idiotic idea and a public health issue. BTW infections that enter via cracked and calloused feet are a third world health problem, so maybe if a kid gets an infection the point will be proven?
Seriously, step back and look at the uptight and tense human being you have become. It is really scary.
If I scare you, then you scare easily. You may want to try developing enough maturity to have a differing opinion without stooping to insults.
