[/quote] I have no problem with registries for weddings, showers, housewarming parties, birthdays, or any other potential gift giving occasion. But you don't tell people about the registry UNLESS THEY ASK for gift ideas. Registries are supposed to be for the benefit of guests who want to know that they are getting something useful for the recipient. Please, please, please don't send out invitations that include registry information or tell a close friend to "discretely get the word out" about the registry before people even ask.
