I'm not a doula, but the money you gave her was also saving your "spot" in line-- if she didn't have you as a client near your due date, she would have had another paying client in your place. If she returned the money of every client who didn't use her or "only used her for a few minutes because the baby came fast" then she may not be able to support her family.[/quote]

I get that but we hired her two weeks prior and she said she hadn't had any inquiries at all for our month.  As I said I paid and know what we were getting into but I personally would have felt badly about taking the money and would have given some back. [/quote]

Np here. Sorry, I completely disagree with your attitude. You had a contract with that doula and you had to pay. It's her career, she can't just give money back when you end up not needing as much support as you assumed you would when you hired her. Labors all go differently (ALL of them), she can't just refund everyone whose labor isn't long and complicated.

And why did you hire someone two weeks prior to birth if you were having a scheduled c-section? What condition would you have not known about at 38 weeks that you then, two weeks later, needed a schedule c for? The timeline doesn't even make sense.[/quote]
