So, my daughter is valedictorian of her high school class.  Because we are middle class, she has qualified for a generous financial aid package that will cover the majority of the cost of sending her to Yale.  She was also admitted to UMD as her safety school.  The all-in costs of the two are fairly comparable. She is very close to her grandparents and dreams one day of becoming a physician specializing in geriatrics.  95% of all Yale pre-med students get into medical school.  Are you suggesting that I should encourage her to go to UMD?  Are you out of your gourde?[/quote]
