My issue with couponing was that I ended up buying a lot of random crap I wouldn't otherwise. So I'll look for specific ones like breakfast cereal or mouthwash, but otherwise we don't buy a lot of processed food and usually get the generic TJs recycled paper goods. Buy cleaning products from Shaklee- you get a bottle of H2 concentrate and mix up all-purpose cleaner, degreaser etc. from that. Also good for cleaning floors. And a bottle lasts forever! The dishwasher soap is also really good and lasts a long time.
It is not couponing issues, rather yours. I print coupons only for items I buy regularly when I'm planing my grocery trips. I might buy some items not when I need them rather when they dirt cheap with qs, but still - only items I use. No junk even if it's free.
I did say it was MY issue. ;) And anyway, my strategy is like yours now, I just find that there are few coupons for stuff I actually buy and store brands can be cheaper or same as brand name with coupon.
