I feel like this is a relatively important piece of information you might have wanted to share when you asked DCUM what might be causing your husband's problem.  I don't think you should be surprised when people were put off by your defensiveness and immediate reactions that the posters' responses were all wrong.  
You made it sound like your husband all of a sudden had one swollen leg,  called his PCP and took some quick advice over the phone, as opposed to a very sick man consulting a team of doctors intimately familiar with his case and his care.  I don't think people should call you a dumbass but I don't think your query was very well informed.

Sorry!  I just thought I was coming here to ask a quick question about what causes swelling on just one side of the body.

Had I understood the degree to which asking a question here implied acceptance of a social contract to (a) disclose all relevant medical history and (b) a promise to follow advice given, I might have given my post a bit more thought![/quote]
