Are you reading it aloud? Not all great books are great read-alouds. I learned my lesson with "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler"--should just have let my daughter read it and enjoy it on her own.
Wow. I am really interested to know why this book did not go over well out loud. This is one of the books I look or ward to reading to my kids.
We've done a lot of read alouds at our home - we each take a turn reading a few pages. My kids didn't care for Wrinkle in Time but I don't think it was because we read it aloud or that it was above their reading level or anything like that. My kids thought that the characters were annoying for some reason and they didn't get into the story. That was surprising to me because I would have thought that the time travel aspect would have been fun for them. At any rate, I think it's a good read aloud book and a fun one to discuss (even if they don't like it).
