Why am I not surprised that this thread has turned into yet another pissing match between elitist twits and defensive wannabes?
Except the jealous wannabees are the aggressive ones in this thread, the ones who are slamming the Ivy kids by comparison with Julliard. Nobody has slammed Julliard. Folks, these are ALL good schools. No need to make yourself feel better by running down someone's Ivy kid just because they aren't going to Julliard instead. Geez.
And you, too, continue the crap. Was it really necessary to go there?
If you want to diffuse a situation, you don't keep throwing kerosene on the fire. Nothing else left to see here, folks. Move on.
+1. NP here. Comments like 'no need to make yourself feel better.....' do absolutely nothing to help cool things down. Actually, there haven't been any aggressive comments. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean a comment is aggressive or even offensive. People are entitled to their opinions whether you like it or agree with it. No one is a twit, elitist or anything else negatively promulgated. Being an Ivy booster is absolutely fine. Being a state school booster is absolutely fine. No fuss, no muss, no big deal.
Actually, 7:55 above was aggressively abusive. Here, I'll cut and paste it for you: "I would be much prouder of a Julliard admission than an Ivy admission. Any smart kid who wants to grind it out can get into an Ivy. Julliard takes real talent, though. "
That's not abusive. That's just an opinion you don't like.
So saying Ivy kids have no "real talent" isn't abusive? In your world, maybe.
