Actually, there are a surprising number of families at YY who speak another language at home--mostly French, a few Spanish, and several others. One Francophone mom I know says that she values the sheer internationalism of YY.
I think there are more parents who speak French than Mandarin actually. DH and I both speak French although we don't speak it at home. We're hoping that DC learns French as a third language at DCI.
We're similar: one parent speaks French, the other speaks decent Spanish. But we were 100% focused on Chinese. We are thrilled to be there, and we have zero connection to China or Chinese culture beyond our personal relationships with friends and co-workers. But we're looking forward to learning more as our kid (and hopefully later kidS) go on this great journey. And I'm hoping the kids choose French at DCI, but since they didn't have a choice about Mandarin (we chose it for them obviously), I'm letting them choose the 2nd target language when it's time.
