I'm happy to see that you take your hat off for the national anthem. Been to a baseball game lately? Most people don't take their hats off. I said that this makes us "traditional. I didn't equate it with a political or social belief.

Just trying to give people an accurate description of our family. We are charitable, accepting and free thinkers. I especially appreciate the pp's comments about GDS being tolerant of everything but Conservative politics. We value diversity in all things in our house including diversity of thought.

I'm PP and I'm not "traditional," thats my point.  I have a tattoo (I'm a woman, if that matters) and support marriage equality and believe that people can be too rich.  I am also deeply religious and take my hat off during the national anthem because I believe in unifying rituals and I love my country.  My point is that you are making assumptions about ways in which you are different that may not hold up and may get in the way of making friends in any new school.  PLus if your DH goes in equating Barack Obama with Fidel Castro, he won't be liked and it won't be because he's conservative, it will be because he's insulting and ridiculously reductionist.[/quote]
