This is absolute horseshit, or based on your lack of understanding about religious differences. There is no leader of Islam. There is no institution. No organization. No hierarchy. Nothing that structurally resembles Catholicism in the slightest. That may cause other problems, but it's there is no comparison to Islam because it's structurally, comparably impossible. You know what Catholics can do to improve the image about their institution? Stop doing some kind of distraction switcharoo, telling people "hey! look what's going on over there!" when there is rampant and institutional child rape going on in their organization. Stop running from it, and confront it head on. I have FAR more respect for Catholics that don't try and play distraction games about the crimes in their church. They condemn it, they openly denounce it regularly, and they don't try and point elsewhere.
So what if there's no "leader?" The people who died on 9/11 were murdered in the name of Islam. As are all the other countless, senseless murders, beheadings, rape, etc. done in the name of Islam around the world. Should I hold the same contempt for Islam? Or should I focus instead on all the peaceful Muslims who peacefully, devoutly practice their religion, the same way Mother Theresa, countless Saints, and millions of Catholics do/have over the centuries. Who's making excuses? I'm not arguing that there wasn't a sex scandal in the church, I acknowledge it, I condemn it, I despise it, and demand that it never happens again. But I don't perseverate on it like you do. I don't expect you to understand why I believe what I believe; you're not Catholic, and don't share the same beliefs about Christ's teachings. But live and let live and move the fuck on already. Forgiveness is a virtue, I feel sorry that you carry around so much resentment toward a group of people who strive to live loving, charitable, virtuous lives.
