You might also need a letter from your doctor saying the nursery time was medically necessary, whether for you or for the baby (did they take the baby there for the heel prick?). Hospital staff probably have no clue that you would be billed for it, so they probably think nothing of it.

I've always had good luck with fixing these situations. MOST insurance reps and hospital billing employees are happy to help and may be just as exasperated by the system as you are.
