24 karat gold is pure and way too soft.  While there is some 24 karat jewelry, it will bend easily.

The lead content is a serious issue.  Stick with items made in the USA.

You can also switch out the french hooks or posts and/or make your own earrings really easy.  There is a seller on Etsy called "Precious Supplies" who has all stuff made in the USA.[/quote]
