People feel and experience pain differently.  There's been a lot of research on this.

Seriously, if this thread has shown anything, it's that people's experiences in labor, medicated or un-, vary tremendously.  I have a good friend who, six years later, is still traumatized by her unmedicated second birth, and how awful it was.  And other friends who've gone without the epi and say they'd never do that again willingly.  And folks who were glad for their epis.  And glad they went unmedicated. [/quote]
