MONA - very restrictive zip code policy MOM (moms of mclean) SA (South Arlington) moms has one also
How so? MONA is Mothers of North Arlington and welcomes any parent in....north Arlington
oh relax poster - she was just saying it's very restrictive to the zip codes. many of the DC ones aren't restrictive to the zip codes, and you can join if you are close to that neighborhood.
Exactly why MONA has the reputation that it does.
Oh. Is it a bad rep? I am pregnant, FTM in North Arlington. I dont live in one of the $1m houses though. I guess we are "middle class" in our condo. Will we not fit here? I have lots of friends in the area with kids but we are the only ones in North Arlington so I was hoping for a good place for resources closer to my neighborhood. Should I skip MONA?
MONA is a fantastic resource with well over 1000 members. You will not only fit in but be very glad you joined, I am sure. You can join a playgroup or create one of your own, seek advice on just about anything without getting slammed (a la DCUM), join or start a group that matches your interest, take your baby on group outings, have a moms night out, have (free) meals delivered after your baby is born, find or sell kid clothes and equipment on the marketplace listserv, participate in community service initiatives, and join the board or a committee if you'd like to help run the organization. And lots of stuff I'm forgetting.
