Sadly, we've had to move for work and don't have any of that kind of community support now. I think it's a real loss and I don't agree with the "your kids, you raise them" attitude in that it's insane to try and raise kids in a nuclear family bubble. Human beings need more support than that. Yet, I see it a lot on DCUM. People freaking out, for example, if someone else disciplines their kids (not hitting, just correcting). It's here too in all the "how dare you expect..." type responses to people who want more from their families.  It's sort of ironic, actually, we're on DCUM getting the very kind of advice and support from strangers that we think we shouldn't expect to get from our neighbors and families. [/quote]
