She also got drugs and alcohol from her addicted rich friends. (Hmmm, at least two heroin addicts that I knew of.  I'm sure there were more.)

You folks do what you want but upper middle class white kids are pretty good at hurting each other in very serious ways and getting away with it.  Your kid has a lot more to fear from his/her rich white friends than from the average working class/poor black kid at DCPS. What happened to your sister was horrible and I'm sorry. I'm the PP who linked to the article about a freshman getting beat to a pulp by 17 and 18 year old "freshman."

Another poster was quick to point out that it happened 5 years ago. That is probably comforting if you have a 4 year old, but my oldest is off to high school next year.

I'm happily paying for private. I know it won't be perfect, but I'm pretty confident my DC won't get the shit kicked out of him by an 18 year old baby thug.[/quote]
