I'm 41 with one child. Have never worn Spanx and hope I never have to. I can see wearing it for a special occasion dress, but I've read some threads on here about women wearing them all the time and that just makes me sad. It seems like if you have to wear Spanx every day, maybe you should just wear different clothes or go to the gym more or just accept your body. (and no, not super-skinny and not perfect - my midsection is definitely flabbier than before the kid. I just feel like I shouldn't have to hide my real body behind spanx like some corseted victorian lady.)
I'm 43 with two kids and I've never worn shapewear either. Pre-kids I was a total hard body so it wasn't an issue. I had no rolls, no back bra-fat, anything. Since kids-- my weight got back down and I am still tight since I workout 6 days week with weights and cardio and lots of core training. I do have a tiny bit of loose belly that will pooch out slightly certain times of the month. however, I find whenever I wear shapewear it adds bulk and seems to move things to the wrong places. DH agrees I look better without the shapewear. Truthfully, I afford super-clingy things that would accentuate a problem area---or materials that really accentuate. I always make sure to hold up a mirror to get the back view so I can see what it looks like going and coming. Dressing for your body shape also helps.
