I believe in Maryland, at least, this is the case.  It's kind of disappointing.

I also did a little research yesterday, and it appears in maryland there are no restrictions to where SOs can live.  So parks and schools nearby dont' make a difference.

In California, they do have restrictions, and neighborhoods started building tiny parks to keep out the SOs.  The reason restrictions weren't put in place (from what I've read) in MD is because it was believed that then the SOs would have nowhere to live.

Personally, I think they should at least have restrictions regarding schools.  Parks are a different thing, but SOs shouldn't be allowed to live within a certain radius of a school.  But not the case in MD!  So I guess an SO could buy a house that backs to an elementary school.  Isn't that a nice thought![/quote]
