By example, you're teaching your kids a lesson for life as well.  It's not that one way is necessarily better than another, but it's true that some people have a far stronger work ethic and sense of responsibility than others. I'm sure we all have friends--good people and perhaps more creative and fun than others--who are more carefree about things. Who's to say what's right?  [/quote]

carefree is o.k.  Teaching your kids that following the rules is for suckers is not o.k.  This is a slippery slope that does not end just with  taking an occassional day off school for "fun."[/quote]
