Before Hope, it was a pretty easy admit and not highly regarded. Today, it is a great deal for GA residents, and the admission rate went down because lots of high-achieving GA students use an Ivy or GA Tech/UGA strategy. OOS students probably started becoming interested once the admit rate declined, and they saw it as more prestigious. It is a fine school. North Campus is pretty. UGA doesn't give the merit scholarship coupons that Alabama does, so it is expensive OOS. I imagine the national reach is stronger than Alabama, and of course there are many more job opportunities in Atlanta than in Birmingham. But, I as a UGA grad now living in NOVA, it is not a school I am recommending that my kid look at. [/quote]
