Mine? Date bars. My god.
Will you share the recipe? I have a weakness for date bars too!
Yes. It's an old family recipe: Crust: 2 cups of flour 2 cups of quick oats 1 cups of brown sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 lb of butter 1 pinch of salt Filling: 1 lb of pitted dates (I use a little more) 1/2 cup of sugar 1/4 cup of karo syrup 3/4 cup of water juice of one orange I add a little orange marmalade if I'm short on oranges Cook all date filling ingredients over low heat until dates are very soft. Stir occasionally. While that is cooking, blend crust ingredients together. Spread half on greased 8X8 pan. Pat down firmly. Spread filling over crumbs and gently press remainder of crumbs on top. Bake at 350 until barely brown Watch carefully. Cut while warm tips: I make the two crust layers separately so the butter gets really mixed in.
