Can someone explain where Dom got his money? He had an apartment, a Cadillac and was buying fancy things for the girl. The area they’re from seems pretty middle class. I’ve seen some rumblings on Reddit so one can only assume massive drug dealer?
He lived next door to his parents and I think they owned the property? Ohio has the lowest cost of living and there are so many "middle class" families with crazy disposable income. There's another episode about this case that explains that he had money from his parents and had played around with investments and crypto. Both of the guys had jobs, even though they were lower-level hourly wage. Given the scale in the vehicle along with weed and shrooms makes me think dealing was also in the mix, but I'm not sure Dom was necessarily the CEO of the operation. With Mackenzie's parents' attitude toward drugs, I'd lean more towards her being a small time dealer. I've seen the body cam footage of Dom's mom being notified and it is indeed gut-wrenching. She's so casual and polite with the officer, ready to help out with whatever he's investigating, and it just takes her an uncomfortably long time to realize why the chaplain is there and why they're asking questions about Dom's whereabouts. Mackenzie's parents' are true pieces of work but what a contrast between her father's description of the relationship and the recorded arguments. Oh sure, she was building a life with him, so mature that they didn't think twice about letting their 17-year-old move in with a 20-year-old man. I mean, come on, they did a lot of cooking together... Then you hear Mackenzie berating Dom and calling him a little b****. Her parents' reaction to finding out Dom was dead is very telling--they saw him as a good guy and were glad their kid was with him. I doubt Dom's mom thought the same about Mackenzie.
